Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. She was only a young child when her father, who was employed as the carnival barker, passed away. Her mother had to perform tasks like waitressing, cleaning and washing. Ruth was raised in the poorest neighborhood in Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in high school. She left the school only after two years in order to explore a career in acting. This was not an easy path to pursue. Even though she got an opportunity in New York posing as a writer for a mystery publication but no theater jobs were offered to her. After a brief time as a club hat girl, she decided to return home to the United States and quit her job. The city of Boston was in which she was employed during the night as an actor with New England Repertory Company and during the day she was an usherette. She also studied drama and ultimately graduated from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
